The Great British Roast needs your help. From the 1st of October 2012 rotisserie chickens will cost 20% more, around 88p on today’s prices. That money goes straight to the tax man.
Why? The Government think rotisserie chickens should be classed as take-away food because they are sold hot. In reality four out of five Morrisons’ shoppers purchase their chicken to eat later and after adding other foods to make a main meal.
We believe people shouldn’t have to pay VAT on a core part of their weekly shop; this is a tax too far.
That’s why the British Poultry Council and retailer Morrisons have joined forces to help people tell Government “Don’t Tax Our Roast”.
